What test procedure is used for Aelysa?
When you have your blood tested for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, you want to be sure that the test result is reliable. We at AELYSA Bioassays therefore use a laboratory-based ELISA test and not a so-called "quick test".
What is ELISA?
ELISA stands for Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay, a procedure in which carefully selected enzyme, antigen and antibody compounds are used to enable the precise detection of SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies. The accuracy of such ELISA tests is generally considered to be exceptional (>99%). We only use CE-IVD certified and validated ELISA tests to test blood samples for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. We test for two different types of IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2: one type targets the envelope of the coronavirus (spike protein), the second type targets the inner region of the coronavirus (N protein).
